The Cult of "Hathahaters"

The Daily Beast's Kevin Fallon has a great article up about the recent surge in Anne Hathaway hate, which seems to only grow in magnitude as the Oscars approach.

The "publicity nightmare" of the public's attitude towards her, says Fallon, has spun so out of control that it's become downright "spoofable."

And thus, dear readers, we give you this:

No matter what your opinion about Ms. Hathaway, this is one brilliant video.

And for what it's worth, we see nothing wrong with her ambition or drive. We just wish she'd OWN the fact that she is totally thirsty for that Oscar. There's nothing wrong with wanting something, or being proud of yourself for a job well done, but for God's sake, embrace it! The whole "gee-shucks" schtick gets old, especially when we know it's all an act. Pun totally intended!

What do you guys think?

'Mama': A Pretty Good Film, but is it Horror?

We went on opening night to see 'Mama', the latest from Guillermo del Toro (as executive producer). For those that don't know, the film is based on this incredibly creepy short film by Barbara Muschetti (which most decidedly is horror):

The film is kind of like if 'Stepmom' met 'Poltergeist'. And Susan Sarandon's character was suffering from necrotizing fascitis and RAGE. Click the jump for our spoilery thoughts!

Fernando Torres Cuts His Hair

For those of you that don't know us, we enjoy watching football. We also enjoy watching beautiful people play football. Fernando Torres is one of those people.

We have a love/hate relationship with him (Mocha is especially torn.) He is beautiful. When he played at Liverpool (YNWA), he could do no wrong. The golden boy. El Niño.

Then... he moved to Chelsea (vomit.) Since Chelsea is the antithesis of all that is right and good in football, we couldn't bear to watch him anymore. But we still love him. He makes our heart ache in this beautiful delicious way that we could probably channel to write some amazingly bad poetry.

Kickette has dubbed Torres "the Samson of the EPL", and they're right. When his hair is long and blond and flowing, life is good. Goals are scored. When he cuts his hair, things aren't quite so peachy. If he dyes it brown, that's asking for trouble.

So yesterday we discover that HE'S BUZZED IT ALL OFF.

Can't pinpoint exactly who he reminds us of now, but it's definitely not his usual, wondrous blond self:

'Zero Dark Thirty' is Osama bin Laden's Last Victory Over America

Matt Taibbi from Rolling Stone has a very interesting article up on this controversial film. A lot of people are wondering if the film's depiction of torture will hurt its chances come Oscar night; Taibbi just wonders if it's damaged something much more significant.

(For the record: Mocha saw the film and disliked it, and Latte has yet to see it.)

Welcome!!!

Hello, world! Welcome to Half and Half!

We are very excited to start this little project of ours, which will feature our take on anything and everything out there, as well as some crazy amazing original content.

And yes, we are new to blogging. There many be some snags along the way, but hopefully they won't get in the way of the kickass content you will soon be reading. If you have any tips or suggestions, please drop us a line at halfandhalfblog@gmail.com.

Keep your eyes peeled for some new posts that we had a lot of fun preparing for you!

Love,

Mocha and Latte

PS- Why "Half and Half"? Well, we like to go for coffee, and the contents of this blog are pretty much exactly what we talk about while drinking said coffee. Also, miss Mocha is half-Indian and the lovely Latte is half-Spanish, so together we become "Half and Half". And thus a cute, catchy, and vaguely marketable blog is born!
