Tuesday Tunes: August 6, 2013-Anglophile Edition

As citizens living in a constitutional monarchy, we honor the birth of our new, silver-spooned symbolic overlord, Prince George, with this Brit-inspired list. Basically, it's the gift you give the person who literally has everything (except actual political power).

In addition to having everything any tot could ever have (with the possible exception of Blue Ivy Carter, lbr), Georgie will also have THE best wing-man once he grows up.

See our list under the cut!

5) Frank Turner, Recovery

This song is probably more suitable for Prince Harry's wild-partying ways, which unfortunately have toned down in recent months. But we're digging the quick, witty lyrics and Turner's unique blend of folk and rock'n'roll sensibility.

4) Mumford and Sons, Babel

M & S's latest single is also our favorite. Some of their songs tend to have the same melody and be remarkably similar, and "Babel" refreshingly stands out.

3) One Direction, Best Song Ever

The lyrics in this song, "And we danced all night/To the best song ever/We knew every line/Now I can't remember" remind us a bit of this epic ballad where the band had a similar trouble with their memory. That comparison alone qualifies these teeny-boppers for our list.

Oh, and that One Direction Homoerotic Drinking Game we'd mentioned in an earlier Tuesday Tunes? It's applicability to this video is OFF THE CHARTS, boys and girls. And, we dig it.

2) Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc, Wake Me Up

Avicii is a Swedish DJ and Aloe Blacc is American. So what's the connection to Britain? A tenuous one, at best. But hey, it was the Number One Song when Prince George was born, so, yeah, SIGNIFICANCE.  Fine, we just really love this song and didn't want to wait to post it.

1) Common People, Pulp

Because, c'mon. These lyrics: "You'll never live like common people..."
No, Prince George, you won't.
