Tuesday Tunes: April 2, 2013

This week's Tuesday Tunes: we've got some songs that will make you get up and dance and songs that will make you feel introspective. Hopefully. If you feel nothing at all after listening to these songs, please go see a doctor.

See our picks under the cut!

5) Capital Cities, Safe and Sound

We love this indie/electro tune and its neat mix of synth and horns, creating an insistent and awesome beat.
Earworms aren't supposed to have legs, but this one does. Despite being released almost two years ago, this song keeps us humming and tapping our toes along to the music.

4) Vampire Weekend, Step

Everyone's favorite privileged New York princes are back! Maybe second favorite princes, depending on how highly you rank The Strokes.

After a three year hiatus following the release of Contra, Vampire Weekend returns with a new album to be released in May. "Step" is the first single off that record, and we love the subdued instrumentation and lead singer Ezra Koenig's dreamy vocals.

3) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton, Can't Hold Us

One day we may be as tired of this song as we are of Macklemore's monster hit, "Thriftshop", but TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY.  We love it!

Macklemore's legit rapping skills are featured prominently and Ray Dalton's hook is sick. We love the cool dancehall-on-speed vibe. That beat will get in your bones!

2) Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sacrilege

We generally like Canadian musicians. We love Karen O. That's all.

1) Elton John, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters

This song is a Tuesday Tunes Throwback. The lyrics to this song remain as truthful and poignant thirty five years later.  All you new artists looking for longevity, take note.
