Tuesday Tunes: April 23, 2013

Tuesday Tunes are back after last week's absence. Forgive us, but we were watching our Oilers continue their downward slide. At least we were in fabulous seats!

While last week was all about losing, this week is all about winning. Winning=funk. Ergo, this week is all about funk. See our picks under the cut!

5) Daft Punk, "Get Lucky"

Daft Punk (featuring Pharrell) finally dropped "Get Lucky" on us, and it is four minutes of pure, funky bliss.

4)  Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell Williams and T.I., "Blurred Lines"

Pharrell, keep doing what you do. In this case, sampling Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up". As Mocha put it, Robin Thicke does JT better than JT. This song is SO SEXY.

It gives us serious early Quincy Jones/MJ vibes. Which bring us to our next three picks...

3) Michael Jackson, Rock With You

Love this bass line and sexy lyrics. This song could be released today (probably by Pharrell, let's be real), and still be a massive hit. It's just that good.

2) Michael Jackson, P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)

One of MJ's more underrated songs. Another perfect blend of Quincy Jone's production skills and Michael Jackson's early, prodigious talent.

1) Stevie Wonder, Higher Ground

No selection of Funk Songs would be complete without some Stevie Wonder. This song shows funk can be more than just sexy. Preach, Stevie.
